VIcky's Ride for the More Than Just a Jump Scholarship Fund 2024

In 2022, RCPT-USA members, Vicky and Jim Connell, along with their dog Luna, traveled in an RV to Washington State where their daughter Tori lives.  Then Vicky rode her bike back to Florida where their daughter Marissa lived at the time, crossing the country. Jim and Luna met her each evening, providing support and a place to sleep.  Vicky biked just under 4,000 miles, and in the process raised about $10,000 for the Safe Animal Shelter in Clay County where they adopted Luna in 2018.  Along the way Vicky posted daily videos to a YouTube channel detailing every step of the journey.

In 2024 they are at it again!  In August Vicky, Jim, and Luna will make the trip to Bar Harbor, Maine, and Vicky will ride her bike to Key West, Florida.  This time the Round Canopy Parachuting Team- USA Foundation will be the recipient of funds raised along the way.  Vicky believes strongly in their motto “More than Just a Jump”, and wants to provide funds for people who desire to become part of the team, but don’t have the financial means to do so.  Her goal is to raise at least $10,000 which will fund about 10 people to go through the beginner course and earn their wings.  If you’d like to be part of this effort, you can donate here!

If you want to follow her progress, Vicky will be posting new videos on the YouTube channel listed below to provide details about the trip and show her progress.

RCPT - USA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt organization.  Our Tax Exempt EIN is 30-0774408

We welcome all donations!

RCPT-USA members incur significant out-of-pocket expenses in honoring paratroopers that have preceded them. They purchase their own reenactment uniforms, parachutes, and pay their own travel to training and Airshow events.  Parachutes cost around $1,000 each, reserves must be repacked every 6 months at $70 each, distinctive historical uniforms - $200, WW2 helmets - $150, and brown Corcoran jump boots are $180. Our average member's investment in equipment to participate in an airshow is typically over $1,500. None of our members or staff are paid employees, and all volunteer their time to perform training, jumpmaster duties, and participate in education or public events.

Any donation to offset the price of equipment, travel costs,  team insurance, coordination costs, aviation radios, and drop zone gear is greatly appreciated. This enables RCPT-USA to reach more audiences and continue to participate in veteran's outreach and community engagement while supporting the legacy of the Airborne!

Corporate sponsors are always welcome. Please contact us at [email protected] regarding benefits - to include special access to events, aircraft, and recognition.
